Food. Restaurants. Recipes. My opinions.

About

Welcome! Come to Snobfod.com if you are looking for a brutally honest snob’s review of a Cape Town restaurant, a tried, tested and perfected recipe or even just wanting to get inspired by all the possibilities that food gives us to live life to the fullest.?

In each review, you’ll find the specific menu items I tried as well as a detailed account of the meal. If you are pushed for time and need a final conclusion then just scroll down to read the conclusion and make up your own mind.

The recipes on the site have all been lovingly created, adjusted and adored by me over the years. As the saying goes, if you want it done properly, do it yourself. In that sense, I often get inspiration for recipes from restaurants I’ve been to all over the world that I want to recreate either the delicious experience or to do it better. So either read the recipes to wet your tastebuds and get inspired or get your hands dirty and make food that is worthy of any snob.

This is only the beginning of the Snobfod revolution so stick around.

Disclaimer

Snobfod is a food blog for people who love food. I am a bit of a food snob - hence SnobFod - but I appreciate a basic hamburger as much as the next person - but I do expect it to be good!

So it’s a place for me to share my opinions, talk about recipes and restaurants I like, and share some honest opinions about good (and not so good) food.

However, I urge everyone to make up their own opinions; to eat mindfully; to appreciate the beauty; the nature; and the hard work in every meal.

I’m expressing myself in an honest way and as such, a subjective way. While I like to think I am fair in my critique and knowledgeable and experienced in my reviews - it is only my opinion and never fact.

Kindness is such an important element in every interaction and thought of our lives. Thus, if I had a bad experience - I’m not saying don’t try it, I’m saying go into every situation with knowledge but be open to the joy and deliciousness that you may subjectively experience.

In a time like this, where the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown has affected the restaurant industry so severely - I never want it to seem like I’m bashing a restaurant that is on its knees trying to survive. But people need to be going to restaurants, and this will only happen if there is a reason to go and to return. If people see a dish I review that is delicious looking or that they would like to try then that’s great. Or if my reviews help someone choose a restaurant where they are guaranteed a great meal then I will be chuffed and hopefully, they will be inspired to try out and support more restaurants. Hardship is no excuse for sub-par performance. And I will continue to honestly review in order to help restaurants and the people attending them the closest to perfection within the bounds of reality.
